Lucky's Pho - Fremont

I'm not sure when Lucky's Pho started up, but it just hit the Pho Queue radar this week. It's right near the heart of Fremont and offered the fundamentals under a festive orange ceiling; 7 pho types (which you could probably customize), Vietnamese sandwiches, Lucky Spring Rolls with shrimp and peanut sauce, frozen yogurt, and a resplendant selection of smoothies. But, if you're looking for bubble tea, cafe sua, or little pastries, you'll just have to get your fix in some other way. Everything tasted pretty good. There were copious noodles. And if you go Sunday, you can walk down to the market just a block or two away (recommended).
Seven people managed to make it to the festivities. Jonathan B., Eli, Kevin, Tim, Darin, Jonathan C., and Les. After a discussion of international stalking laws we covered these topics at length.
  • Volvo's moose factor.
  • Rhinos on Moose on Segways?
  • Options for Tim's car.
  • Darin's adventures at the Spinal Tap concert.
  • Kevin needs scrabble tiles, especially the elusive vintage 'H'.
Somebody remind me to take notes next time, because this is just the tip of the iceberg. Maybe some more of the banter will show up in the comments.

Than Brothers Pho - University District

The table that seated twelve was only beset with eight brave souls; Jonathan B., Kevin, Eli, Matthew, Tim, Les, Jonathan C., and the infamous Ross. That's four times more than last time!
There are dozens of pho and Thai places within a stones throw of the location, but it's sweet pastries help it remain a popular spot. (wtf, I'm not a writer. Somebody help.)
Here's this weeks inanity:
  • Spokane's solution to the gopher population: The Rodenator Pro.
  • Tim's troubles with the smug border patrol people.
  • Advice about traffic tickets from Jonathan C, the foremost expert of the group.
  • "I don't think Afro Samurai : Resurrection was as good as the original series."
  • Brazilian Montanans
  • Rebuilding the alphabet with more umlauts. Backwards.
  • Zombie Nudist Colonies
  • And, who the hell is Matthew? (you're welcome back, of course)
  • plus some other stuff. check the comments...
TUNE IN NEXT WEEK FOR MORE PHO QUEUE.

Than Bros. West Seattle (2009 April 05)

Jon and Eli - the last great white hope(s)...EPIC PHO QUEUE PHAIL! Jon decided there would be six people showing up, so he sat there with the largest table in the restaurant and played an array of six plastic cups of water... I showed up...late as usual - we talked about dirt, and I sculpted a sand castle out of the dense air that wafted from the kitchen. Then, suddenly I disappeared in a puff of smoke. Short lunch - not much to say - headed over to Joe's to help finish building his computer afterwards.

Although...I did hang out at Emerald City ComiCon on Saturday with my nephew, Zac - Frank Cho was at the convention and I was happy to get an autographed artbook. We ended up at Than Bros. on Capitol Hill (where Gloria joined us) - so I got pho'd two days in a row.

Faux Pho - Chan's Place

This week the pho place was closed. I may have panicked a little. But I recovered when somebody told me there was a chinese restaurant open in Totem Square on Sunday.
I tried the 'beef noodle soup', but it wasn't quite the same as pho. Stupid Les, stupid. Eli, Jordanna, Tim, Jon, and Kevin were way smarter and just ordered traditional chinese food.
Once again, we came up with some brilliant ideas.
  • Kevin's Instant Karma mixed drink
  • Mixed drinks
  • Pick on Jon day
  • Can we drop off a zip car full of puke?
  • jamba juice
  • Sakuracon status update
  • Frontloading Karma, and rollover Karma
  • some other stuff i can't remember
